Help For Stress

Stress, long-term or short can "infect" many parts of our lives and bodies. For many stress can lead to less healthy habits and choices. For others it leads to pain, illness, and bigger projects such as disease (or dis-ease).

No matter the intensity, JSJ can help; either "self-help" and/or going to a practitioner.

Have you noticed that when you are stressed, your shoulders migrate up to your ears? That's because we carry all kinds of our stresses in our shoulders (in JSJ this is SEL #11) and related muscles.

Self-Help - Go right to the source! To release stress you can place your right hand on top of your right shoulder and your left hand on top of your left shoulder. If this is difficult for you, you can cross your hand to the other shoulder and hold one at a time (put your other hand on the inside of either knee).

When you are holding your shoulders (one or both), breath in and then out, releasing all of your breath down to the end of your lungs and hold... when you need to, breath in and take a few regular breaths. Do this breathing (all the way out) nine times. This conscience breathing helps release stress in concert with the holding of your shoulders.

HOLD YOUR THUMB!!

The thumb is important in all our lives! AND you can hold your thumb when you are under STRESS! Holding your thumb eliminates worry which is often associated with stress. So if you are in a situation where you cannot hold your shoulders, just hold your thumb! You can even dig into the sides or front and back of your thumb bones to get those "sore" spots (and keeps your hands busy!).

Your thumb is associated with your stomach (often upset under stress) and spleen, the astrological signs of Cancer and Gemini, the color yellow, the mineral black onyx, and can help skin surface issues!
